Is Invisalign a Good Teeth Straightening Option For Me?
Did you know that over 8 million people and 1.4 million teens have found success with Invisalign? That’s because Invisalign is a clear, removable alternative to braces. You can get perfectly straightened teeth without having to deal with the hassle of clunky metal braces.
Dr. Valerie M. Preston and our team at VP Dental are here to bring you the latest in cosmetic enhancement options. That’s why we’ve compiled this helpful guide to why Invisalign may be the best treatment option for you.
How does Invisalign work?
With Invisalign we take a custom 3D mold of your teeth. We then create custom-made clear plastic aligners that gradually straighten your teeth as you wear them. While you can remove the aligners for up to four hours a day, you do want to make sure they stay in for most of the day.
You can remove your aligners for eating, drinking, and for special occasions. But keep in mind, you do need to keep them in for at least 20 to 22 hours a day so that your teeth can have the straightest results possible.
However, unlike with braces, you can still enjoy hard and sticky foods with Invisalign. You just need to take them out while you eat.
The great thing about Invisalign is that nobody can tell you’re wearing your aligners. They’re specially designed to fit perfectly over your teeth so they won’t slip or fall out of place. Plus, the plastic they’re made out of is so clear it doesn’t show up on your teeth.
Is Invisalign for me?
These days, due to advanced technology, Invisalign can fix a wide range of smile issues. For example, crooked teeth, gaps, overbites, crossbites, and underbites. When you come into our office, we’ll discuss all the ways your teeth can benefit from aligners.
You’ll also need to commit to appointments every six to eight weeks. During these appointments we determine your progress and see if we need to adjust your aligners or make new ones to further adjust your teeth.
How to keep Invisalign aligners clean?
All you need to clean your aligners is a toothbrush and some warm water. But, you’ll also want to make sure to brush and floss daily. You wear your aligners all day and any food particles left on or between your teeth can rot and cause damage and wear to your teeth.
