Invisalign explained
Invisalign is a clear alternative to metal braces that aligns your teeth, helping your mouth’s bite to function correctly, plus give you straight teeth. We treat kids, teens, and adults, making it a convenient option for almost anyone. Whether you have a mild or moderate orthodontic issue, Invisalign can help you achieve your desired goal.
What Invisalign treats
Invisalign has revolutionized the world of orthodontic treatment. It might be the right choice for you if you have any of the following:
- • Overbite
- • Underbite
- • Open bite
- • Crossbite
- • Overcrowded teeth
- • Gap teeth
When you come in for a consultation, we examine your teeth and gums. If you’re a candidate for Invisalign, we create a customized plan to bring your teeth into alignment and give you a confident smile.
How Invisalign works
To prepare your teeth for Invisalign, we take a 3D image of your mouth. Our computer gives us an inside view, showing us where your teeth are now and what they’ll look like as they slowly shift. We also determine how many sets of aligners you need in order to achieve a successful outcome and show you a digital image of what you can expect your final results to look like.
The images allow us to create your customized clear aligners, which takes about two to three weeks. Once they’re ready, we work with you to put them on, making sure you have a secure fit. We also consult with you and answer your questions.
You can walk out the door in confidence, wearing your virtually invisible aligners without anyone noticing.
What to expect with aligners
Invisalign gives you flexibility by allowing you to take them out, as needed. We recommend you wear your aligners 20-22 hours a day, only removing them when you eat, drink, brush your teeth, and floss.
After one to two weeks, we prescribe your new set of aligners to keep your teeth shifting in position. We also monitor your progress about every six to eight weeks with a checkup.
With each new set of aligners, you may feel some pressure and a bit of temporary discomfort while your teeth move with each set, only lasting a few days.
To clean your Invisalign aligners, simply remove them from your mouth and gently brush the inside and outside using your toothbrush. You can then put them back in your mouth.
